Frequently Asked Questions
What number of all-stars has Toronto Raptors had?
Vince Carter, Antonio Davis and DeMar DeRozan are eight Raptors All-Stars. Except for Davis and VanVleet who were part of this All-Star team, all the players have been selected to other NBA teams such as Leonard.
What was the Toronto Raptors' first season?
The Toronto Raptors won just 21 games during their debut season. The 1995-1996 Toronto Raptors season was the inaugural season of the Toronto Raptors in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Raptors were one of two expansion teams that joined the league that year, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. It was also the NBA's first season outside of the United States.
All-Star point guard and former Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas became the team's General Manager. He was a key contributor to the draft that resulted in Damon Stoudamire being named Rookie of Year. They also acquired Tracy Murray (and Oliver Miller) in separate trades. Thomas also introduced a brand new primary logo, featuring a play by basketball dinosaur and new pinstripe jerseys with the logo. The Raptors added purple to their color scheme.
Brendan Malone, the new head coach of the Raptors, won the Raptors' first game on November 3, against the New Jersey Nets at SkyDome. However, they lost seven of their next seven games.
Murray was second on the team for scoring, with an average of 16.2 points per contest. He also led the team by scoring 151 three-point field goal attempts during that season. Miller was the team's leading scorer with 12.9 points and 7.4 boards, 1.4 steals and 1.9 block per game. Robertson had 9.3 points and 4.4rebounds as well as four assists and two steals each game.
Despite having the worst attendance record in the league they still managed to attract over 17283 fans per match at SkyDome (now Rogers Centre).
What is the longest time that the Raptors have been together?
Toronto Raptors is an NBA franchise that is located in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors joined NBA in 1995 as an expansion club, alongside the Vancouver Grizzlies. The Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, in 2001-02, making the Raptors the only Canadian-based team in the NBA.
Toronto Raptors players Scotiabank Arena for their home games. The city's NHL team also uses the arena, the Maple Leafs. Since their inception, the Raptors have been in the NBA playoffs 13 different times. They lost 6 games to Philadelphia 76ers in round one of the playoffs in 2021.
1999-2000 saw the Raptors make their first playoff appearance. The Raptors were swept in round one by New York Knicks, their division rivals.
The fans were few and far between, and the team wasn't too exciting either. There was not much to be excited about and nothing to cheer for. After years and years of failure, the team decided it was time to change. They went to great lengths to appeal to the masses.
The team hired an agency to create a marketing strategy that would bring them national fame in 2001. The team came up with a slogan called "Hear us Roar!"
The team was experiencing financial difficulties at the time so the slogan was used to highlight the fact that all of their games had sold out. They needed a catchy slogan and a great logo. This is where the creative genius of the agency shines through. They combined the phrase "hear us roar" with another popular saying, "never say die." This became Toronto Raptors' official motto.
What year did the Raptors win their inaugural playoff series?
Toronto won their inaugural playoff series when they defeated New York 3-1 in 2001. They reached the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2001 for the first and only time under Lenny Wilkens.
Why are Toronto Raptors called Raptors
In 1995, the NBA expanded into Canada and created the Toronto Raptors. Name and logo for the team were inspired from Jurassic Park. The team colors are bright red, silver, purple, black and silver.
In the first season of Raptors basketball, the team struggled to find their footing in the league and finished with a 21-61 record. They improved every year, and in 1999 they were ready to make their first playoff appearance.
The Raptors' most memorable moment was in 2019, when they won the NBA championship title. Toronto's first title was won by Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry, their backcourt duo. They defeated the Golden State Warriors in six thrilling games.
Since then, the Raptors have become firmly entrenched as one of Canada's most beloved sports teams. Toronto continues bringing excitement to basketball fans across the world with its international superstars as well as local talent.
Canada's basketball heritage is proudly represented by the Toronto Raptors. Young athletes are inspired by their success on the court. It is clear that the Raptors will be a favorite team for many years due to their loyal fans, innovative play style, and dedication to excellence.
Is Canada home to many NBA teams?
As of 2001, the Toronto Raptors are the only Canadian NBA team. From 1995 to 2001, the Vancouver Grizzlies was an NBA team. They moved to Memphis and became known as the Memphis Grizzlies. Canada did have two NBA teams during the late 1990s: the Vancouver Grizzlies, and the Toronto Raptors. However, no other Canadian cities have an NBA team. Canadian basketball fans are still passionate, even though Canada does not have an NBA team. Many Canadians travel to the United States to see games. The Toronto Raptors are a well-known and popular team that has been around since 1995. They continue to attract large audiences for home games at Scotiabank Arena. Hundreds of Canadians also travel annually to attend the NBA All-Star Weekend in the United States. With a population of over 38 million, Canada can have more than one NBA team. Many North American basketball fans debate the possibility of having a second NBA team. Until then, the Toronto Raptors remain the only Canadian representation in the NBA.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a professional basketball league based in Canada. This league features six teams from Canadian cities and towns, including Fraser Valley Bandits (Abbotsford, BC), Edmonton Stingers (Edmonton, Alberta), Guelph Nighthawks (Guelph, Ontario), Hamilton Honey Badgers (Hamilton, Ontario), Saskatchewan Rattlers (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), and Niagara River Lions (St. Catharines, Ontario). The CEBL is Canada's only professional league for basketball.
From 2011 to 2020, there was a professional male basketball league called the National Basketball League of Canada. It included eight teams from Halifax (Moncton), Saint John; Cape Breton), Summerside and London. The COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of operations at the NBLC in 2020.
Canada has several junior basketball leagues. One example is the Canadian National Basketball League (CNB), which is a semi-professional men’s league that is based in Vancouver. CNB is home to teams from British Columbia. Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Manitoba. Another Canadian junior basketball league (CEDL), which mainly features teams from the Greater Toronto Area, is the Canadian Elite Development League (CEDL). AC) and Canadian Youth Basketball League. These leagues provide opportunities for young basketball players to develop their skills while competing in a competitive environment.

Best time to catch a Toronto Raptors' game
Toronto Raptors games typically take place on weekdays between April and October. Weekends are usually reserved for concerts and festivals.
It's best to book tickets well in advance because they tend to sell out quickly.
When visiting a Toronto Raptors game, the most popular day to attend is Wednesday. Many fans show up early for pregame warmups.
After the game, fans head over to Nathan Phillips Square, next door to the ACC. They stay there until the end of the game.
After 8pm is the best time to go to a Toronto Raptor match. Fans should not leave the stadium after midnight, but they should return to celebrate their team’s victory.
